Donate to the International Bluegrass Music Center
Above: Preliminary design for the new International Bluegrass Music Center. The center would be located four blocks from the current museum. The City of Owensboro has pledged $3 million to the proposed new center, provided that the museum can raise the additional $7 million needed for the renovation.
2012 has been a banner year for the Bluegrass Museum. ROMP #9 was extraordinary. We took exhibits to Boston, Memphis, Milwaukee and Bellevue WA. We received artifacts from all over the world. Our long-held dream of creating an International Bluegrass Research Library is nearly a reality, and the long-promised editing of all 268 of the museum’s invaluable first-person Video Oral History interviews with Bluegrass Pioneers begins January 15th. We are greatly encouraged by the response from donors to the new International Bluegrass Music Center, even prior to the campaign opening January 1st. If we reach our fundraising goal of $10 million (we are currently at $5.8m), the museum will move into a 3x larger building, with far more exhibit space, a 1,000 seat concert hall, an outdoor concert area for 2,000, a restaurant, expanded gift shop, an international hall, library, teaching rooms…and more. So much good is going on, and our work is mushrooming. We need your help. Please consider becoming a member, and if you are already a member, please consider becoming a donor. We owe it to all the terrific bluegrass musicians, now living and gone on, to preserve their great legacy in the manner and style that is befitting their talent and creativity.
Thanks to all, – Gabrielle Gray
