Programs

Kentucky Bluegrass Allstars

The Kentucky Bluegrass AllStars Lessons Program is a popular program offered each year at the museum. It puts bluegrass instruments-banjos, fiddles, guitars and mandolins--into the hands of future AllStars, who range in age from 3 to 78. More than music lessons, more than free loaner instruments, the program is a rich package, providing quality instruments and hands-on lessons, photocopied instructional materials (as needed), a Kentucky Bluegrass AllStars T-shirt, and two 3-day passes to ROMP (River of Music Party) if you perform with the Kentucky Bluegrass Allstars, live, at the popular Owensboro festival. Each year, the museum’s goal is is to have the largest bluegrass band on earth performing live and on the Main Stage in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Group lessons are every other Saturday beginning in the Fall at the museum, and ending with a performance on stage at ROMP. The total package cost is $60 per person; $30 for each additional immediate family member.

As a member of the Kentucky Bluegrass AllStars, you will also receive a year-long membership to the museum, two guest passes to the museum, a museum bumper sticker, and unlimited access to RBI: Radio Bluegrass International.

To reserve your seat, come down to the museum in the RiverPark complex. Pay your tuition and be fitted for your instrument. Scholarships are available. Call the museum for details. To sign up for next year’s program, call the museum in September: (270) 926-7891 or 1 (888) MY BANJO.
